History: Origins

Published: 04-Jan-2022

This is the first entry in our "history of this thing" series. I'll be posting past news so people who have not been following along can catch up with what is going on around here.

Who in their right mind would set off to build a service for playing hundreds and hundreds of DOS (and other!) games online?

Only the creator of the WORLD'S FIRST 4-player dial-up DOOM server!

That's right, Scott Duensing, developer of the APCiMPGS, APCiDOOM, and APCiHERETIC, has gone and lost his mind! The APCiMPGS ended up supporting a whopping four games before the BBS scene died off and was replaced by the web. That left hundreds of games unsupported!

This needs fixed! Now!
